Project Overview
Redhill Services recently completed a large-scale solar PV installation for a homeowner in Costessey. The customer wanted a system to cover their current energy needs while also preparing for future electric heating demands. The property included a garage and multiple outbuildings, making it ideal for a more substantial solar setup.
Challenges
- Designing a system to meet both current and future energy demands.
- Integrating a solution that could support electric heating in the long term.
- Ensuring protection of the panels against nesting birds and potential damage.
Our Solution
- Extensive Solar Array: We installed 23 panels delivering a total of 11kW of solar generation.
- Hybrid Inverter & Battery Storage: The system was paired with a Fox 10kW hybrid inverter and 20kWh of battery storage, providing the homeowner with efficient energy usage day and night.
- Future-Proof Design: The system was sized to accommodate not just current usage, but also anticipated demand from electric heating in the near future.
- Bird Protection: We fitted a bird brush/bird blocker around all the panels to prevent birds from nesting underneath and protect the longevity of the system.
Outcome
The homeowner is over the moon with the results, messaging us to say how brilliant the system is—especially with the recent spell of sunny weather. The setup has not only improved energy efficiency but also prepared the property for future upgrades like electric heating.
