Project Overview
Our team at Redhill Services recently completed an EV charger installation for a customer in Queens Hill. The property was a modern three-story townhouse with two adjoining properties on either side. The homeowner needed an EV charger installed in the garage, which was located at the rear of the property and detached from the main house.
Challenges
- The existing cable feeding the garage was insufficient to power the EV charger.
- The consumer unit was positioned at the front of the property, requiring a complex cable routing solution.
- The property was rented, necessitating landlord approval.
- The customer wanted the cabling to be discreet, particularly at the front of the house.
Our Solution
- Installing a New EV Charging Fuse Board: We installed a dedicated EV charging fuse board within the external meter cupboard at the front of the property.
- Routing the Cable Discreetly: We clipped the cable along the front of the house and concealed it behind the downpipe to maintain a clean aesthetic.
- Utilising the Loft Space: The cable was routed up into the loft space, running across the loft to the rear of the property.
- Extending to the Garage: The cable was then run down the back of the house, along the fence line, and into the garage, where the EV charger was mounted.
Outcome
The project was successfully completed with a fully functional EV charger installed in the garage. The discreet cable routing ensured minimal visual impact while maintaining safety and efficiency. The homeowner was extremely satisfied with the installation, praising our ability to overcome logistical challenges and deliver a clean, professional finish.
