Project Overview
Redhill Services was commissioned to carry out an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) for a commercial rental property in Thetford. The building was leased to a car garage business, and the landlord—one of our regular clients—wanted to ensure the electrical system was safe and compliant. The property had never undergone an EICR before, and the landlord had recently taken ownership.
Challenges
- The electrical system was in extremely poor condition, with significant safety hazards.
- It appeared that unqualified individuals had conducted previous electrical work.
- Burnt-out joints and stripped cables wrapped around each other instead of proper connectors posed fire and safety risks.
- There were no prior safety records or documentation for the electrical setup.
Our Solution
- Comprehensive Electrical Inspection:We performed a full EICR assessment, identifying critical faults and hazards within the system.
- Urgent Repairs & Safety Compliance: We rectified all identified issues, including replacing burnt-out joints, correctly securing cables, and ensuring all wiring met safety standards.
- Upgrading Lighting & Electrical Components: We replaced all outdated and unsafe light fittings to improve safety and energy efficiency.
- Bringing the Property Up to Code: Our work ensured the installation was fully compliant with current regulations, giving both the landlord and tenant peace of mind.
Outcome
The electrical system was successfully restored to a safe and legally compliant standard. Although we do not have after photos for this project, the improvements significantly reduced fire risks and electrical hazards. The landlord was extremely satisfied with the thoroughness of our inspection and the quality of the remedial work carried out. The business owner also benefited from a safer, more reliable electrical system, minimising potential downtime due to faulty wiring.
