Project Overview
Redhill Services recently worked with a customer in Thorpe St Andrew who had an existing solar PV system and wanted to enhance their energy setup with battery storage, emergency backup power, and additional features.
Challenges
- Integrate a battery storage solution without altering the existing solar PV system.
- Provide emergency power to key household circuits during outages.
- Enable smart energy use, including EV charging from solar excess.
- Add an outdoor hot tub supply safely and in line with regulations.
Our Solution
- Battery Storage Installation: We installed a Fox AC inverter alongside a Fox 10kWh battery mounted on the external wall of the property. This allowed the customer to store excess solar energy and use it later.
- Emergency Power Supply: We fitted a dedicated emergency power fuse box, enabling selected household circuits to stay powered from the battery during any power cuts.
- Zappi EV Charger: The customer wanted a sustainable way to charge their vehicle, so we installed a Zappi car charger. This charger intelligently uses excess solar energy to top up the vehicle’s battery.
- Hot Tub Power Supply: We also installed a dedicated power supply for a new hot tub, ensuring safe, compliant outdoor electrics.
Outcome
The homeowner now has a robust and smart energy setup. They benefit from energy storage, backup power for key circuits, solar-powered EV charging, and a dedicated hot tub supply. The system improves energy resilience and self-sufficiency, all without disrupting the original solar PV setup.
