Got questions about solar? We’ve answered the most common ones here — from battery storage and payback periods to tariffs and warranties — so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
Will adding storage batteries to my existing system affect my FIT tariff?
No, the FIT tariff pays out on 50% of everything you generate, rather than what you put into the grid. As long as you don’t change the size of your current system, you can introduce storage batteries without effecting your FIT payments.
How long will it take to achieve payback from my solar array?
This really depend on a lot of factors, how much energy is being used by the home, export payments, Panel orientation, battery size to name a few. Pay back can be as little as 3-5 years for some customers. Charging your batteries at a cheap rate in the winter months can also significantly reduce payback periods.
What is the best battery size for me?
By using your property’s annual electricity usage and the estimate solar generation, we can calculation the optimum battery size for you. If you intending on using a cheap rate to charge you batteries during the winter months, when there is less sunlight available, is usually best to slightly oversize the battery.
What guarantee or warranties will I receive?
We generally use solar panels with a 25-30yr manufacturer’s warranty and Inverter/Batteries with a 10yr minimum warranty. We provide our customers with an insurance backed deposit guarantee and a 10year workmanship warranty.
Will I get paid for any electricity that feeds into the grid?
Yes, we will provide you with all the documentation and assistance to set up SEG (smart export tariff) tariff. We will even offer advice on the best SEG rates.
